Someone Stole My iPhone :(

This may not be the right forum for this, I dunno...

I forgot my phone in the restroom at work today and when I went back for it, it was gone.

Anyone ever heard of a way to locate it through GPS? The AT&T store rep said Find My Iphone only works if you have it installed on the phone prior to its loss...

I'm wondering if I'm just plain screwed, or if maybe AT&T, or maybe the police can locate it using GPS...

Add AT&T family map to your plan. If the phone is on, and still has your sim in it that will locate it.

I had mine stolen about a year ago. AT&T, Apple nor the local police would help. Family map wasn't available yet.

Look at cylay with your new phone. You can track, lock, take remote pics, and wipe the device from any compute

The best ive ever had was iLocalis because even if your sim card gets taken out and a new one gets put in or w/e it happends to be. You can still track your phone though the web, send a msg, make a call, wipe the phone. The best i like is, call your house number using your iphone that the thief has and get his number and he is F****D. idk thats what i'd say.

ps. this saved my butt sooo many times.
pps. i want chromatic iphones - so i can tell mine apart from my families iphones

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll check out that family map thing, and iLocalis. I have a new phone on the way but it's probably not going to be jailbreakable for a while.

I have a tiny, small, flickering hope that it will get turned in to lost & found on monday...

What really irks me about the whole thing is that they have my MyWi 4.0 and other cool JB apps that I paid for.

Is there a way to put them on my new phone (once it's JB'd) without having to re-buy them, and a way to get those apps locked for my old phone so the new owner can't use it?

i think u can put them to your new phones as paid apps are linked to the account u use to pay it.. i.e. like mine the gmail account

How much is iLocalis? I use Cylay right now, it is $20/year.

You can use Cylay, iLocalis or any app you want, but if he restore that iPhone, bye bye Cylay bye bye iLocalis and say good bye to that iPhone for ever. If you got Cylay or iLocalis the best thing you can do is try to act as soon as possible when it happens maybe you can have some data before he restore your iPhone. If he's smart he can take the sim card out and put it on airplane mode. I think if he got it in airplane mode till he restore it, iLocalis or Cylay cant do anything.

Yea once u pay for an app, it's urs for life! Just link cydia with whatever account u have been using. For example: I updated to iphone4. when I installed an app(from cydia) that I previously paid 4, it asked to verify using facebook, myspace, twitter etc. I choose fb and then a pop up box says u have already purchased package. Always use the same verified account, that's how they know it's u.
