Thread: iphone 4 root password
08-15-2010, 01:45 PM #1iphone 4 root password
I have the new iphone 4 and I cannot access it with winSCP or mobile terminal.
My root password is NOT alpine or dottie.
Does anyone know what the password is for 4.0.1?

It's alpine. You're doing something wrong. Make sure you have the IP address correct and you're choosing SSH access. Also make sure you have installed and activated OpenSSH from Cydia.

It must be alpine

when I goto mobile terminal and try to change my password it says:
old password: alpine
alpine is NOT my password. I have open ssh installed and running.

I wasn't aware mobile terminal worked on the iPhone 4 yet. Have you tried simply logging into the phone via WinSCP?

if you manually add the source: (http://www.podzombie.com/repository/)
it has a mobile terminal that is OS4 compatible.
yeah, i've tried winSCP and MT and nothing works. I've tried 'alpine', dottie, 0000 and 1111. Nothing works and I am at a loss.
If i restore to default settings will it reset my root password?
now cydia doesn't work. don't add that repository, it somehow messes up cydia.
