My gf just got a replacement 3G shipped to her, but she also bought the iphone4. The 3G is on emergency mode, but I would like to jailbreak and unlock it, so I can sell it. I don't know anyone who has a sim to put in it, so can I do it without one somehow?

The iPhone 3G is jailbreakable with Redsn0w.. no SIM needed. You can use f0recast to see what firmware it's on so you know what version of redsn0w to use.

Thanks. I downloaded Forecast and checked the phone. It said that the phone will always be able to be jailbroken, it is not unlockable and not tethered. Not sure why I can't unlock it. How do I get redsnow on the phone? Thanks a lot

Thanks. Forecast only told me the Serial #, Baseband, Bootloader, and model. Not the firmware. The baseband is 05.13.04, if that helps.

I can't get out of the emergency screen, to get to the wifi settings. However, the background wallapaer on the emergency screen is the iphone4 water wallpaper, so it is at least 4.0 software.
