Black Screen Stays In Call

so ya know when u call and then put it upto ur cheek and it goes black.
when i take mine off my cheek, it still stays black and i can hear the voice. pressing home or lock wont do anything, but in a lil while, pressing home brings it to the lock screen, and upon unlock phone.app is still open, so i know a respring DIDNT occur

I had this happen with my ip4 and it seems that the case was the issue,, it covered the top of the prox sensor and was basically telling the phone it was in use even once I took the phone away from my ear. What sort of case if any are you using? I have also read of this happening to others without a case, seems there is an issue with some proximity sensors. I'm only recently new (6 months) to apple products so hopefully others will have more advice!
