Ios 4.0.1 3gs problem

I just upgraded my brothers phone and it is having problems. It was previously jailbroken with spirit. Now that I updated the 3 g network will not work at all. It shows really low signal strength as well. The only way to go online is with wifi. Right now it is not jailbroken. Figure need to get it working right before jailbreaking it. Any ideas what is going wrong and how to fix it? I've tried reinstalling the os a couple times.

Did you restore from a backup or update normally? When you come out of a jailbroken OS, it is always best to do a full factory restore, not a backup or update. Press the restore button and then restore and update and it should fix all your problems.

Did the normal update and then Restored from backup. So I'll do a clean restore tonight and see how that works. Now is there any way to save phone numbers so they don't have to all be re entered?
