3GS screen randomly blank

About half an hour ago, I went to set my alarm on my 3GS, as per usual..
However, when I pressed the Home button to wake and unlock my iPhone, nothing happened. Or at least it seemed this way, due to the screen not coming on.

Even with the screen blank, I am able to unlock my iPhone, poke around blindly, set to vibrate, and relock it, all which seem to work fine, confirmed by the correct sounds and vibrations. But the screen just stays black.

The only thing that changed on my iPhone recently was the Backgrounder update, and I highly doubt that's the issue here.
Help?

[edit] No wait, there was the three essential Cydia updates as well..

Looks like it's just the backlight that's not working.
I'm now sitting with the phone under direct light, and can see the screen. But no backlight.
Wondering if I should restore, or start a tear-down.

try hard reset the phone (home+power button)see if it helps..

Probably should have mentioned that I tried doing that at least ten times. :/

try this..

- turn off your iphone
- charge for few minutes
- while charging do the hard reset method

Try a clean restore to stock fw. If the issue is still there then it's probably a hardware issue.

Went and updated to 4.0.1, still no backlight.
Guess I need a replacement.
