Please can someone help, my technical knowledge is clearly not as strong as I would like. I have tried to follows the steps to update my hosts file: I only have one local host at the end and it doesn't seem to want to let me save the file. I don't appear to have an administrator option either! I am running XP and would really appreciate some help.... I need some step ny step advice please...

Just follow the steps
1. Open the file in notepad and save it somewhere else. Eg.-My Documents or save in the same folder as hosts file in different name.
2.Delete the original file in the path Windows/system32/drivers/etc
3.Now copy paste the file from My Documents or rename the file to hosts
Very important thing is kindly remove ".txt" after everything.

After noticing my phone wouldn't connect to the app store, nor could my itunes connect to any servers even with my internet connected, I tried this hosts fix. But my problem is now my hosts file is now a notepad txt. Did I follow the steps correctly or did I do it wrong? My iphone 4 is still quite new, never jailbroken, but it was having problems connecting to my carrier network as well. If anyone could shed some light on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated, please and thank you

I've the same problem but i'm not using apple computer.
My host look like this, what should I do? Please help.
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 184.108.40.206 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 220.127.116.11 x.acme.com # x client host
# Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy

None of these are working for me. Sigh
04-21-2012, 12:10 PM #57Steps
Go to Folder and Search Options -> View -> Uncheck " Hide extensions for known file types ". Now delete ".txt" from file name.
