iphone dying?

A few hours ago I took my iphone out of my pocket to answer a call and the screen was lit up and white with some stripes. I swiped the screen across the bottom and was able to answer the call. So I figured the LCD connector came loose. I tried powering the phone off by holding the power button then swiping across the top but got no results. I tried power and home to reboot but got nothing, screen still on. Then I kind of randomly messed with the power and home buttons. nothing. When I got home I plugged the phone into my PC and it wasn't recognized. Then I tried restore mode and got the "this phone needs to be restored before using itunes". Any thoughts?

I also opened up the phone and checked connections.

:/ not to be obvious but maybe a restore will determine if its software or hardware? Thats what I would do.

I never restored the phone before. Will I have to manually reinstall everything or can I just re-sync it to itunes? Anyone know if I will lose game progress?

I ordered an LCD from UbreakIfix and had it next day shipped for friday.

Well, if you sync to iTunes it will keep all your apps contacts mail settings etc. But you will lose your JB stuff. Even if you back up your JB stuff, youd need to restore from back up which is not what you want to do as that may bring problems back. You wanna set your phone up as new, so youre looking at losing your JB stuff unless you get Rockapp, create an account and have Rock back it up for you. I believe you wont have to restore from back up that way.

Ok. I do have a rock account/rock backup.

I'll wait until my new LD gets here tommorrow and go from there
