Ios4 vs modded 3.1.2

Well,
I got a 3g, that had 4.0.1 on it. But I downgraded it to 3.1.2 (what I am used to) and modded it with a lot.
Which, in your opinion is better, jailbroken 4.0 or jailbroken 3.1.2

3.1.2 for me. While I looove the speed of the camera on 4.0 (and other features), a couple of key cydia apps aren't compatible yet.

I honestly like everything ios4 has minus the backgrounding app. I prefer Bakgrounder and Circuitous for that.

Backgrounder supports iOS4. Im currently using backgrounder on my itouch(iOS4) 2G and I havent seen one problem.

I upgraded to 4.0 because I've been desperate for the consolidated inbox (3 different accounts). While I loved it, I loathe the backgrounding, and couldn't run the version of StatusNotifier, WeatherIcon, or LiveClock that I've gotten used to with 3.1.2. After a week or two with 4.0, I went back to 3.1.2 on my 3GS. I did just order a new phone though - so once it's jail-breakable, I wonder if I'll be able to downgrade to 3.1.2 on it?!?

Yes, backgrounder is supported on iphones. It will run on anything, besides iphone4(no jailbrek yet) that has the iOS4 firmware.

I prefer the iOS4 on my itouch 2G and iphone 3G. TBH backgrounder is a pain when you get multitasking capabilities with the iOS4. I only have backgrounder cause some of the apps I have dont support the multitasking from the iOS4.

iOS4 beats older firmware anyday due to having more features. JB 4.0 > JB 3.1.2

Like the previous poster said, backgrounder works on IOS4, but none of the switching apps do, like Circuitous, Proswitcher, or Kirikae.

Update to iOS4 and then rejailbreak using Redsnow. Download the iOS4 from modmyi here, plug your 3G in, shift+click on restore to search for the iOS4 firmware then update. Make sure that the "enable multitasking" feature is checked.

You can always use pwnage tool or snowbreeze since your jailbroken on 3.1.2 but I've never used those two.

All apps should work with backgrounder. What do you activator setting are you using? I always use hold the home button when I want to use backgrounder for an app.
