    Default Iphone 4 Error 3014 fix also

    C: \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts>>>>open with Notepad (USE ADMIN and OPEN!!!)
    simply add in to it, bottom >>>
    gs.apple.com >>> or just delete 74.208.10.249 from it !!!
    and save it !!!
    done go RESTORE use official 4.0.1
    no shift select anything

    Yes, I received this error initially when trying to update my iPhone 4 and realized it relates back to the modification I made to the hosts file when caching Apple's server as suggested by Saurik back in my 3GS days.

    Remove the last line in the hosts file and everything works; apparently Apple now won't permit iTunes to be "tricked" into looking at another server.

    ...what if you accidentally deleted the "Hosts" file in some stupid attempt to jailbreak and downgrade to 4.0.1? ...?

    worked great i had error 3014 and then 1004 but this fixed it
