I do not have an iPhone 4 yet, and really would like to know how many people are having this problem. Yeah, you got random companies and people testing and giving different results, but I want to know what the reality behind all of it is.
I want to add a poll to this, but couldn't find a way to do it/delete this thread and start over. Basic options are:
-I do not have this problem
-I can replicate the results, but that's not how I generally hold it
-It does drop a few bars, but it's not that big of an issue. If I could go back in time, I would buy it again
-I've had dropped calls/call quality problems, and this is a serious issue

I don't have this problem... Except at my office where reception is very poor anyway. It's in the basement of an all brick building and sometimes my signal goes from 5 to 0 without touching it. That's the only place I have noticed that I can "force" it to happen with the "death grip".
It seems overblown, yet, at the same time, there are loads with the problem/that one original YouTube video really showed something...Yeah, the iPhone 4 is awesome, but there's no reason to buy a broken product..Maybe it's time for the Nexus One
Have the problem in any area without a very strong signal. Can touch lower left antenna gap with finger and within 20 seconds, lose 2 bars. Solved with a case. Without a case, I just avoid touching the antenna gap. Love my iP4.
