Deadzone?

I woke up this morning to my 3g not allowing me to unlock it. We i go to type in my code all three numbers across the bottom are dead. I have had this phone for almost 2 year and replace the digitizer and glass once about 7months ago. Any one have any ideas? I already opened everything up and cleaned everything out. Do i need to replace the digitizer again or is it hardware. I havent updated recently and am jailbroke. I dont really want to restore cause i cant sync it, so i would lose info.
