07-09-2010, 06:09 PM #1Using iPad plan with iPhone 4 - How to text?
Hi, I am interested in purchasing an iPhone 4 in Australia (when it comes out) with one of the many iPad data plans. I will be able to call by subscribing to Skype out and Skype in, however, texting is an issue.
I was wondering if there was any way (in Australia) to send and receive texts from the iPhone 4 with solely a data plan. The only requirement being that people need to be able to reply to a text with any other type of phone (i.e. to a phone number). I don't mind having to reply to messages through some-sort of other interface.
I have not decided that I would do that yet, just thinking of the technicalities.

We don't have GV in Australia . Thanks though...
I found this service. It is AUD$30 for 250 texts (and recipients can reply).
2-Way SMS: Two-Way Text Messaging From TextMagic
It seems a bit expensive though. Does anyone know of another 2-way texting solution?

What about textfree from the app store. It works from data and you can even get a phone number. I use it to text my wife all the time wile I'm on wifi at work.

Just an update, I found a couple of other sites. I'm not sure if the second one is legit as they say they are free:
Send Text Message From Computer
Free Text Message - Send Free SMS
