I have a 2G (MA712LL) running 3.1.3 - jailbroke w/Redsn0w 094.
The phone is unable to detect (or join manually) any WiFi networks that contain a space in the name.
I have searched the web for others having this same problem, and found a few that have encountered the problem. The solution has been to rename the network without spaces. This is an acceptable solution for home networks, but an unacceptable solution for public WiFi networks.
Thanks in advance for any information provided!!

I have been able to verify my iPhone is able to detect WiFi networks with spaces in the name.
However, I am still experiencing no detect problems with some networks. The problem netowks coincidentally have spaces in the network name, which led me to my original (incorrect) conclusion.
I have determined a couple of the problem networks use Netgear access points. One of the problem networks uses a Netgear WPN824.
