Default Iphone 4 White Proximity Sensor Design Change
Hi by looking at this picture for the white iphone 4

I do see they added a Grill on front of the proximity sensor so does that mean all the black one proximity sensor required a hardware modification and if yes I can see another law suit coming let me know what you guys think of the grill or someone knows why there is a grill on white one and not on black one And yes I am on my 2nd Iphone 4 and yes even the second IP4 is facing the proximity sensor issue and on apple forum there are more than 1200 post for the same issue now for the proximity problem and this is far more bigger problem than the signal one cause now even if you have a signal you will still end up loosing the phone call on black iphone 4 cause you end up hitting end button by your face

There have been reports that the sensor has been slightly shifted from the past models and it is in a more reflective place in the ear. This is why it keeps thinking it is not near an object.

Yes but We don't have a grill on front of the sensor on the black one so why there is a grill on top of the sensor on the white one ?

I don't really see a grill. I see a grill on the earpiece but seems to be just white glass over the sensors.

They are probably there on the black iPhone as well you just cannot see them because of it's darker color, as it does look like it is under the glass, and if someone sues for this they are just being too picky. And you for just trying to nit pick at it is just insane, it's an amazing device but, everyone tries to just tear everything about it apart, yes it may have some issues but, that does not mean that you need to go file a law suit. Just return it if you don't like it. I don't know how you expect the infra-red rays to get through the paint with out them. And if that is a deal breaker for you I'm sorry you need to lower your standards.

I'm not sure where he go that exact photo, but if you go on apples website and go to the store and look at the bumpers and enlarge the picture of the front you can kinda see it.

The black models are the same, you just cant see it because its all black. Thats it, no biggy.

PS- My black iphone4 has no issues with signal, or proximity sensor.

I wonder if we can see it with magnification? I don't know why this interests me so much.

Its not tiny, so magnification wont help.

Hold the phone under and close to a bright light and you can see the sensor.

Aaaaaah. Ok I see it under some light. There is a noticeable design change for the white one though. I doubt it has anything to do with the reported problems some users are having. Like I said before, I have had none of these reception or sensor issues a lot of people are having.

Its not a design change in the sensor...its just a change in the design of the glass screen.

This is because the white is not transparent like the black...so they had to put the little holes design on it so the light would still shine through to the sensor.

The actual hardware is exactly the same.

Cpjr - can you replicate the loss of signal when the iPhone is held in the 'death grip' position?

The black i4 does not have the grill like the white i4. Picture will up soon to show you. The black i4 is completely clear were the proximity sensor is.
