Possible to get internet on iphone via ethernet cable?

Here's my story:

I'm in China now, trying to unlock my iphone 3g I brought from the US so I can use a Chinese carrier.

Trying to unlock it through cydia with blackra1n, but wi-fi doesn't seem to work on my phone here. Not sure why.

I have an ethernet connection that works for my computer. Wondering if I can somehow use this connection to go online on my iphone? Don't know what other options I have at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Got wi-fi to work on my iphone by running ad-hoc network on my computer. Still can't unlock it b/c blackra1n.com is banned in China.... Any way around this? Sooo frustrating.

i don ththink so man. sorry. and you can tether by installing mywi I THINK, but idk i don t have an iphone but im pretty sure u can like tether u iphone through usb

Use ultrasn0w to unlock instead. The source should already be in Cydia so you'll just need to download and install it.
