2G iPhone - 4.0 IOS - No sleep/wake button - Need Help

Hello I have a 2nd gen phone also referred to as the 3G. The phone has been through 11 wars, 4 pools, 2 toilets, and one 16 month old monster.

The sleep/wake/power button does not work ..

The volume, vibrate toggle, and ear piece do work ..

I have had the phone open a TON.

HOW can I get this phone (2G w/ IOS 4 w/ no sleep/wake) into DFU mode.

I see with 2.0 you were able to issue a command via the dos prompt to place the phone in DFU. Any ideas ?

I let the phone die and holding the phone and plugging in the dongle brought me to recovery but I need DFU.

Bump, need to get into DFU from a 2nd gen phone w/ no sleep wake on 4.0.
