New to iPhone 3Gs - need some info/help.

I could use some guidance for unlocked 3Gs, 3.1.3, 5.1.2 & PC - Windows 7
Bough it on eBay. Works fine.

1) How can I tell if my phone is Jailbroken? If not what should I use?
2) Do I "HAVE" to use iTunes (is there alternative)?
3) What should I avoid at any cost (sites/programs etc.)
4) Can I get virus-infected on my phone?

Look for a program icon called Cydia, if it is on the phone then its jailbroken!

If Cydia icon is not there probality is not jailbroken and you could only us Spirt to jailbreak but I would wait a bit longer for a different jailbreak!

I would only use this site of some that are mention here that are considered safe

Yes you can get a virus likely not but you do need to change your root password on your phone search works here also

You will also need to know if you have what is called old bootrom or new bootrom! Just use the search bar on top of this page and you will find out how to do this!

Read a lot of post here and use the search bar and take your time and if in doubt ask question know matter how simple you think it is but try the search option first!

Yes I have Cydia - so it's JB (good) it's also unlocked for my Costa Rica crappy carrier , I have old bootrom as well.

I have great time with Install0us (found ton of nice "working" apps

Like to make these work but they don't work on my phone after I install it.
