Anyone noticing Maps app problems on the new iPhone 4??
I'm not sure if it's just me but i have been traveling a lot this past month and driving quite a bit...as soon as i got my new iPhone 4 in the mail the day before the official release i was trying out everything...first thing i noticed was the attenuation problem that we all know about...then had some fun testing out facetime with a buddy that got his also...but one thing i have been noticing while driving was that the Maps app was horrible at first...when i first tried using it, it would NOT populate the images at all...it would show my location but no map pics would load...secondly after i did a restore already on it thinking i jacked up the iOS4 during activation it kinda started working better but it's still REALLY slow...third while driving my location would jump around on the map...nothing drastic like putting me accross the country or anything but for instance i was driving on I-95 and my location would jump ahead on the road quite a bit and then jump back to my actual position...Fourthly, still with location problems, while driving when i would come to a bend in the road it would keep going on the path i was on and then recorrect itself...now these are problems that i remember from the very first iPhone when it came out and progressively had gotten better with each new device...
SO...has anyone else noticed any similar problems??
Yep I noticed things of that sort, I was use to using my 3GS but on the iPhone 4 it sucks hopefully their will be an update with the current issues going on now.
Oh yeah, me too. I work for Directv so I use it for navi all day. It's horrible, I haven't tried any gps apps like navigon or Tom Tom but google is terrible
Mine works perfectly. It loads all the maps very very quickly, my position is loaded within a second and stays where I am for the entire time I am in Maps.
I use TomTom mostly and it works great. Ive also tried Navigon and CoPilot with great success. If you use navigation, there is no replacement for a program that uses maps locally, imo. Besides that, the map app is horrible for turn by turn navigation, imo.
What if you lose cell coverage? You're SOL unless you have something like tomtom.
Mine was horrible with my Vapor 4 case but now that I put the Apple Bumper back on it's great. Also if you have metalized window tint this can interfere with the GPS signal.
