It's not exactly lucky. Pretty sure it's against French law for phones to be locked to a specific carrier. That's how I managed to get a factory unlocked 3G[S] was from a French store. Obviously a little pricier than full price for an AT&T locked phone, but the unlock is never lost, regardless of OS updates, so worth it to me. Only thing that sucks is it came with a European charger adapter. Makes sense, obviously, but it's of no use to me
