first iphone 4 charge

well i drained my iphone 4 for the first time today at roughly 2:00 CST pm i let it die completely and then i plugged it in to my desktop to sync and charge it for its first time. It just now finished 3 1/2 hours later. What kind of charge times are some of you experiencing.

Over 4 hours for it to get to 97% then it stopped charging.

i used Battery Doctor for my first "Full" charge. Charges to 100%..then a little more....then "trickle charges" (w/e that is lol) but this app deffinatly helped my 3g battery life. suggest checking it out

the first day out of the box it lasted all day (from 12pm till roughly 8am.) After the Battery Doctor charge ive been playing games, talking, listening to music, downloading...and battery is at 40% as of (914pm est)

Is it safe to fully discharge an iPhone 4 battery ? I know on the older models it said to not let it fully discharge then fully charge it as it wears battery life down. They suggested to charge when not using it like short charges.
