This is my first legitimate iphone purchase through att/apple so this is the first time i have gotten the box. What is the purpose of the white tray they call a charging dock in the box? is it just a place for your phone to sit or is there another use for it and why the hole in the back?

it is for third party devices like iphone alarm clocks. Slip it on your alarm or radio, then your iphone fits perfect on it.

LOL are you talking about the stupid white plastic thing with the hole and you pull up the paper tab to unveil the usb cable, wall adapter, and headphones?

Or did you get the iPhone Dock which holds it up with an input for the iphone end of the usb cable and an audio line out?

Dude we all think what you are saying, but if that is what this person has, why did it come with the phone?

It is $29 and to my knowledge sold by itself, not included in the factory box.

iPhones only come with headphones, usb cable, and wall adapter.

Some came with a metal pin thing to pop the sim.

That is about it.

LOL since no answer from thread creator I think I was correct, please answer!

Are you sure the pins are the same? Safer so it doesn't maybe do something unexpected.

It is an adapter for the Apple Universal Dock. Look it up.

HAHAHA Its just like how the iPod Touch comes with the little plastic adapter for various universal docks.
