No iOS4 for iPhone 1?

So apple decided not to let us original iPhone owners have an OS upgrade. What up with that? The 3G gets the upgrade and it has the same RAM and same CPU AFAIK. Any word on a jailbreak that would fix this?

Apple will not be releasing a 4.0 firmware for the first gen iphone so you're out of luck.

You're not understanding... if a firmware flat out does not exist then how would a jailbreak for this non-existent FW fix the issue?

Well the 1st gen is basically the same as the 3G, so it's seems logical to me that it's probably just some little snippet of code that says it's not allowed to run on the 1st gen.

If that was possible then people would have been switching code back and forth for different iDevices all along but it just won't work.

Is that a software feature or hardware? I don't believe the 1st gen phone can focus on anything.

Only 3GS has tap to focus. 3G simply got digital zoom.
