lost contacts after upgrade to ios4

The phone locked up with the connect to itunes logo it was on 3.1.3 so connected to itunes and downloaded ios4 and restored it on a different computer than the one that i have backups on. i took the phone home and synced to my itunes and now i dont have any of my contacts. I did the same process with another iphone using dfu mode to upgrade to ios4 then synced to another computer with backups on it and it works just like normal. Any way is there a way to get my contacts back? both phones are 3g.

make sure sync contacts is checked in itunes
