I haven't been able to find an answer for this, and I'll try to explain it the best I can.
i'm going to be purchasing 3 iPhone 4's (32Gb), two on current lines which are eligible for full discounted price. The 3rd iPhone will be for my mother who will be joining our AT&T plan from Verizon, so in the end we'll have 3 iPhone 4's.
Now, I have a 3GS and my father has a 3G, what I want to do is give my mother the 3G and my father will be receiving my 3GS and I'll get the iPhone 4.
Now the question comes in how will this work, I know I can purchase 3 of them, but, how does activation work? Say they transfer my mothers number to the iPhone 4, how can I revert her back to the iPhone 3G? Can I just call AT&T and get a different SIM card, since iPhone 4 is micro-SIM?
I hope I'm clear, if not, please tell me to elaborate further.
Thanks a lot.no spam

I know of this, but can't I just ask Apple for another SIM? I can't believe they're just not going to let us switch between the 3GS and iPhone 4, just incase something goes wrong with the iPhone 4 or vise versa.no spam

While you can certainly ask them, you risk raising the ire of the AT&T police. You would probably be best off claiming that you somehow damaged the old sim. "I was looking at the sim while taking a crap and accidentally flushed it."

Where are the other two new iPhones going? If you are getting one for you, and then giving your 3G to your mom, and the 3GS to your dad, all you will need to do is wait a day or so, and then go to an AT&T store and tell them that you need two SIMs, simple as that. When they ask why, just tell them that they are going to use a couple of crappy phones for a while. Though, getting a MicroSIM adapter might be easier... They won't deny you the SIMS, though they may make you pay for them. You selling them? Just know that you will be subject to the new data plans..And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

Why would I be subject to new data plans? My mother is, without a doubt, but I'm not changing anything on my plan, and plan on using the $30 unlimited still, while my parents might use the new ones, not sure.no spam
