Since iPhone 4 will be out soon, I'm planning to try and sell my 3GS (Black, 16GB) to someone in my city as I would like to try and not bother with selling online and paying shipping fees.
The question is, what should my asking price be? Like the highest and lowest price I should ask?
The phone is about 8-10 months old, and comes with the original packaging, cables and headphones included. Everything is undamaged, and the front side of the phone is 100% unscratched. The back side has a few small wear signs, but that's okay.
The value of a 16gig 3GS can be compared to what you'd pay for it new. $99 + tax + $375 ETF + $65 first month service + $36 activation fee = $585.00 or so. A used phone in mint condition is def worth $475 or so.
According to this, I should give a starting price of something in between $460-500 and then perhaps lower it to $400-440 if the potential buyers find the phone too expensive.
I am thinking about selling my 16GB 3Gs also. I have been watching ebay and looks like jailbroke/unlocked 16GB 3gs's are being sold from $350 to above $500.
I think these are the steps to prepare my jailbroke & unlocked 3.1.2 5.11.07 3GS for sale:
- Restore to 3.1.
- Blackra1n (to jailbreak)
- snow (to unlock)
- remove SIM card
- Power down
Questions
1) At any time, do I need to activate the phone using my ATT sim?
2) If yes, at what step do I do that
3) Should I turn off 3G in settings before the last step (power down) and ship?
