Best way to switch from 2g to 3g?

Im having trouble finding threads on here about how to transfer as much of my 2g's content (cydia files included) onto a 3g. Most of the words im using to search are too short or too common. Would i make a restore point on the old phone and restore the new one to it? Can it be done with ssh? If anyone could let me know where to find such a thread it would be much appreciated. Also, both will be unlocked if it makes a difference.

Search Cydia for 'aptbackup' and that should backup your Cydia apps. When you sync it should put all your Cydia apps back on. However, I'm not sure how it will handle a 2g to a 3g or if it even cares. Oh an sync first with iTunes. Then I would install aptbackup and sync again.
