Gta china town wars is 232mb but in itunes sync shows 662mb

I just realised that some of the games i have are taking up alot of memory. for eg. GTA Chinatown wars is 232mb but in itunes sync page shows 662mb, Avatar 188mb but shows 276mb when syncing. a couple of other games like Sandstorm, streetfighter are inreasing nearly 100mb each when syncing to iphone.
Any idea why? ...before someone says need space for game saves i don't think that means almost doubling the size of the actual game.
iam on 3.1.3 fw, jailbroken. itunes 9.1.1.12

yes. in the appstore they just show you the download size
