Just bought my first iphone 16GB JB 3.1.2 - 05.11.07 on fleebay. I want to save my SHSH at Cydia, but when I open Cydia it does not give the option to save anywhere (no make life easier prompt).

My ? is- is their a way to manually backup on Cydia?

I dont want this phone to touch my computer (XP) until I have those files saved somewhere!

As you can see this is my first post here, hope I'm in the right spot and if ? has been answered a thousand times before please post a link. Thanks, love the site so far.

Could one of the great members here PM me a site that could help me out with this type of ?... I know that i'm new to this forum, but I have been reading for more than 18 hours on this...

Just want a backup at Cydia, period.

No matter what you will not get 3.1.2 SHSH because they are no longer being signed. The only one you will get will be for 3.1.3 because it is the current firmware being signed.

So I can not save my JB iPhone without risk of 3.1.3 locking me out of everything.

I read you need to backup at Cydia, not to lose JB?

There is no make my life easier button for 3G. Only the 3GS and iPod 3G need the shsh keys due to a new hardware/software security.

Going back to my first post, is there anything I can do with this phone to bring it up to date without losing jailbreak.

Would like to be able to connect to itunes without it updating to 3.1.3.

Yes, use a custom firmware to keep your baseband to keep it unlocked. Right now there isn't really a reason to jump to 3.1.3 anyway. It adds nothing to the firmware. If a app ask you to be on 3.1.3 Cydia has a app called firmwarefaker that will make them think it is 3.1.3.

Should I try umbrella to store MY SHSH and ECID?

The link posted said for me not to do anything, but I need protection.

3G devices to not have SHSH or ECIDs that need to be stored. Only the 3GS iPhones.

Downloaded the 3.1.3 faker app (first app ever)installed, rebooted and TaDa 3.1.3. Now I will be able to use itunes safely.

Now is there a way to back up my complete phone for recovery?

I will screw it up, I will not stop until it happens. Im a tweaker and wife hates me for it.
