Charge your iPhone faster w/ the iPad's charger

FYI

As all of you are aware, you CANNOT charge the iPad with just the usb cable, you need to charge it with the charger that came with it. I figured that's because it sends a stronger power charge signal to the device which it might need.

I tried charging my iPhone with the iPad charger and wow... it charges it faster than I would of have had expected. No issues charging and works like a charm.

EDIT: "The iPad will in fact charge on a regular USB connection. It will ONLY charge when in standby mode and charge very slow however. If you wake it up it will show "not charging" in the status bar but when you put back in standby mode it continues to trickle charge." Thanks to Poeseidon79 ;-)

but the ipad pushes more power through its cable, i dont see how that would be good for iphone/ipod battery maybe ok through usb but on the wall outlet seems a little dangerous

Generally the more power you push into a battery the less life you will get from it. I don't think it will make a huge difference in battery life of the iPhone by using the ipad charger, but...
