I live in China, but my iPhone formats my phone #'s with the American format (###)###-####. But in China the # format I use most often is:

Mobiles: +86-###########
Landlines: +86-21-####-####

If I input the phone # into my Mac's Address Book, in my preferences I have "Automatically format phone numbers" unchecked, so it will save #'s the way I wrote them in. But if I input the # with my iPhone, it always uses the American format.

I did some research and someone recommended changing the region in "Settings>General>International>Region Format" to China. But then my date and time is written in Chinese which is a bit annoying for me. I read about Format Fix by Carlo Franchino on Cydia, but I'm running an HK factory unlocked iPhone 3GS and prefer to not jailbreak it.

So far my solution is to reformat each number I input on my iPhone using my Mac's Address Book.

Anyone have any good ideas to how to fix this?

Thanks,
HL
