Quik Question About Unlocked Phones

hey everyone will im new to site and had a question. I do alot of traveling around the world and a friend of mine said "if i go to the att store and i can tell them that i want a 3gs unlocked phone with 3.1.2 fireware". Is this true cause i wasnt a iphone fan for along time but since my lady got one its fun. let me know if this is possible to do cause i will be getting one next week weds.

The iPhone is the only phone that ATT will not unlock for any reason or excuse. You could try Apple but good luck on that.
