phone tethering to iphone question
i travel frequently, and have a data plan on the local phone. problem is that it is EMOBILE in Japan and the 3G SIM/service isn't compatible. (its 1700 vs 1900/2100), and yes i've tried to put the local SIM in the iphone... it just doesn't work...
anyway i was wondering if there was a way to tether a phone to the iphone via bluetooth
typically as i understand it...
iphone -> macbook (this can be done via bluetooth, and ive done it before)
what i want to do is...
regular phone -> iphone
and on this phone i can already do
regular phone -> macbook (via bluetooth)
not sure if this makes sense, of if even anyone has this need, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas...

That would work if you wanted to take signal from the iphone and give it to the regular phone, but I think he wants it the other way around, he wants to get signal from his regular phone to his iPhone. In which case it MAY be possible on say a rooted android, depending on what hacks are out right now, but otherwise I can not think of a way.

guys thanks for the comments...
yep i figured you can't.... and probably no one really has the need to do this...
but i figure its potentially possible?? since the bluetooth PAN can go one way, there isn't anything that says you can't go the other way right? (i should make this app..
)
but long story short, i solved my problem. i had a touch diamond, and almost bricked it, but was able to upload a new rom, and all is good through the 'wifi router' app on the winmo device.
