constant data usage?

if i were to purchase an iphone 2g and hook it up with an at&t gophone plan and use google voice sms with prowl push notifications, would my phone constantly use data to push notifications to me?

Not "constantly", since the whole point of "push" is the fact that the phone doesnt have to "look" for new info...it is automatically sent to the phone from the server.

However, it will use data when you receive notifications.
