No Wi-Fi on 3.1.3, Hardware Problem?
I have this iPhone 3G 8GB I just bought off of a guy. When I looked over it, I didn't really test any of the features (even though I know I should have
), and didn't realize that the camera and the Wi-Fi don't work. When you tap "Wi-Fi" in the settings, no networks show up. I have come to the conclusion that the previous owner updated to 3.1.3, and notoriously the Wi-Fi quit working. I realized the Wi-Fi wasn't working after I jailbroke it (3.1.3) and realized I couldn't do anything. I've done the regular stuff people tell you do to, restore, hard reset, soft reset, restore, ect ect. I've tried everything.
I've determined that the Camera shutter not opening is a hardware problem. Many people have had this problem, and had it fixed though re-soldering the camera on. Does anyone have exact instructions to fix it?
Also, my main question is: has anyone fixed the Wi-Fi no network problem? If it is a hardware problem (that is what I think), how would you go about fixing it? Is there an exact part that is known to fail when upgrading.
I have no warrenty, and spent a lot of money on this phone. I am technology aquainted and I know what I'm doing when it comes to computers and technology. But when it comes to this phone, I'm leaning towards a hardware issue and I am hoping someone can help me identify what to fix?

The previous owner JB with BlackRa1n which killed the WiFi for which there is no known solution so he sold the phone to some unsuspecting sucker....
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Well, I didn't need you to tell me that...I've already realized that. :P
I'm hoping someone knows how to fix it? It's jailbroken right now to 3.1.3 through redsn0w.

I did extensive googling on this, what the problem is a problem when you update iPhone OS, something goes wrong (because you are flashing the memory and is very risky).
The Camera shutter I determined was a loose connection in the camera itself inside the iPhone.
Lesson learned: Check the stuff before you buy it!!!!! Also, don't update your phone every two and a half seconds!
What happened with me, I sold the phone, currently looking for another one.Last edited by User100; 04-23-2010 at 05:33 PM.
