3.1 on iPhone 3G faster than 2G

Hey guys,

I just recently upgraded to an iphone 3g from a 2g, and one of the things that really popped out at me was that while 3.1 on my old 2G was slow and crashed a lot, 3.1 on my 3G is fast and responsive. This puzzles me because the 2G and 3G both run on the same processor with 128MB of RAM.

Have any of you guys noticed this? Why do you think the 3G could be faster and more responsive than the 2G?
