Do I now have to wait??
Hi there, I'm fairly new to the Apple world. Used to run windows but when my lap top broke I bought a 2nd hand macbook

I am slowly getting used to it......anyway...
I had my iphone 3gs jailbroken in nov by a mate who know how to do it all ( I am not really a computer person
) but the other day I plugged my iphone in the mac to charge, came back after I had tea to find my iphone back in standard form!
It has upgraded the software to 3.1.3, do I have to wait or can I go back??
as I said I'm not really computer friendly and don't want to bugger something up.
many thanks
Rich

3GS + 3.1.3 = No jailbreak currently available
(unless you uploaded your SHSH to Cydia prior to updating to 3.1.3)

Unless you got your SHSHs on file...if you click the corresponding image in my sig, it will take you to a guide to help you restore if you did, in fact, get your SHSHs on file.

many thanks for your replies guys! I think I will just wait until the 3.1.3 has been jailbroken.
How do you go about SHSH on file......

When your iPhone was 3.1.2, the very first time you opened Cydia, you got a notification asking you if you wanted to put your SHSHs on file, or if you "hate jailbreaking." (don't want to put them on file). If you DID get them on file, you can restore your phone back to 3.1.2 by patching your hosts file on your computer to make iTunes think it's talking to Apple when it's actually talking to Cydia. Read Saurik's guide to learn how in detail... there's a link in my sig. If you did NOT get your 3.1.2 SHSHs on file, you're out of luck until a new jailbreak. I realize your friend jailbroke it, but I highly doubt he would have pressed the button that said "I hate jailbreaking, go away," so you can probably still restore as long as you follow the guide.
When you went into Cydia on your phone, do you remember there being green text at the top of the screen saying "This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.2"? Here is a screenshot:

If you remember seeing that text, you should be able to restore.Last edited by n00neimp0rtant; 02-16-2010 at 02:13 PM.
