Switching between 2g and 3gs iPhones

Hey Everybody.
I got a question that no one seem to be able to answer. I have a 3gs as my primary phone and i just got a new original 2g that i really like. And would like to be able to use it once in a while. I am trying to figure out whats the best way to switch between the phones.

So far i found out that i would have to call at&t every time i want to use my 2g and it would have to be on the day of the billing cycle so i wont be procharged. Is there any other way for this?

Um, take the sim card out of one phone and put it in the other...

plans are different. so when i switch i get no data on my 2g and when i call in to get it switched i get prorated charge for the 3g plan.

What is different? Right now you should be subscribing to the iPhone Unlimited data plan for $30 a month correct? At&t signal works based upon your devices IMEI number. Yes you would need to call them and give them the other phones IMEI number to use data again. The 1st gen is a piece of garbage anyways, makes for a good iPod. Stick with your 3GS...

to be honest i like 2g better. looks quality and feel of it is better.

That is good. I still have 2 1st gens laying around. I just wont use them as anything more than an iPod. They are sooooo slow in comparison to the 3GS.
