Not that I plan to restore my phone unless I absolutely have to (I'd miss being jailbroken too much) but I had a little incident last night that's got me wondering about a few things that may come up if I ever do need to do restore.
Mainly I'm wondering what happens to the files I've added to the phone via ssh, once you restore? I've got a couple of game emulators and I've added games via ssh. If I have to restore, will that automatically delete the games, or will I need to somehow go in and remove them manually? Or can I even do that once I restore? If the phone is totally unresponsive (which is pretty much the only reason I'd restore) then obviously I can't remove the files before I restore, but will I need to remove them afterwards or will they just be gone?
The reason I ask this is because on the off chance I need to take my phone to the apple store or something, I'd like to remove any evidence that I'd been messing around with it, etc. The restore wipes away the evidence of the jailbreak (I hope) but if by chance those games are still in there, or any other files I don't know about, the expert at the genius bar would probably spot them immediately and I'd be sunk. My hope is that a restore totally wipes the slate clean, but I'd like to find out for sure beforehand, rather than just waiting for the day I need to restore and keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for any info anyone can provide, rest assured I really appreciate it.
do a nice restore and set up as a new phone should be fine, if you want to be really safe restore it twice and there should be no evidence of any thing.
