SIM not supported = NOT unlocked.
If JB:ed run Blacksn0w - if not installed on phone download via Cydia (source "www.blackra1n.com")Do hope that helps

Another member posted this solution in another thread:
ok ssh to /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records
in this folder there should be a file with a 20 digit file name.
probably starting with (8901****************.plst) this is the serial number of the sim you used to activate the iphone.if you open the file and edit the line that says
("IntegratedCircuitCardIdentity" = "8901***************")
with the sim serial number of your tmo sim that you plan to use,it should word perfectly even push.my old tmo sim only had 17 digits but the newer tmo sims have 20 digits, all the sims Ive looked at from att and tmo start with 8901.i hope you understand how easy this is let me know if you have any questions. If I helped you, hit the
button or be Banned!

where did you find 9.2?
i just started having problems today. i've got a jailbroken/unlocked iphone 3G (version 3.1.2) on t-mobile. i've been using the phone since Nov.
the only thing i can think of is that i activated my google voice on my phone using a code, and i'm starting to think that maybe my sim card isn't recognized because i did something to it. i de-activated my number, thinking that might help, but that did nothing.
otherwise, i can make calls just fine, send text, access email, etc. i just can't access itunes through my mac.
i tried using 8.2, but still got the same error.
i checked out /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records, but the only file in there was "wildcard_record.plst"
