    Default iPhone 3GS 3.0.1 bootloop - almost

    So, this was pretty unsettling:
Had 4 texts from the same person, that i read from the lockscreen by double-tapping(QuickReply SMS). During that time, i received a phone call, and let it go to voice mail, while walking away from the phone. Came back and it was on the normal lock screen. Tried to slide, but it wouldn't unlock. Didn't show the slider moving, but showed letters of the keyboard popping up as i moved over the slider. Went to turn it off by holding the lock button, but it was unresponsive to my "slide to power off." Hard reset with both buttons, then stuck on apple logo in boot. Reset it several more times, same results. Plugged her in. iTunes spit out an error similar to "Ex8000001" and recognized the device as an iPhone. After reading up on 3.1.3 being just released, she eventually came back to life after being plugged in, and reset several times.

Some times a hard reset can take several long minutes to reboot after an error like that.

It's still acting glitchy here and now. When locked and i plug it in my computer, it won't charge/recognize it until i press a button to show the lock screen. Another instance, I closed cydia, but left it backgrounded, then once i opened it again, i couldn't exit. Cydia was functioning but couldn't quit the app. SB Settings wouldn't respring or close cydia. Had to power off using the lock button. Probably time for a restore soon, i have my 3.1 and 3.1.2 hashes saved on Cydia and my computer.

Yeah, I would go ahead and restore back to 3.1.2 then. 3.1 wasnt stable at all so stay away from that.

I haven't done much research about it in a while, but I know there are some tweaks on cydia claiming to enable the native tethering on 3.1.2. Do these really work? I'll do some more research shortly and try it out when I go to 3.1.2. I do enjoy my native tethering with 3.0.1.

Update: I went to 3.1.2 using Saurik's server, no problem. Blackra1n jailbreak. My first restore went fine, until I updated the carrier file that iTunes requested i do. After the install, i shut down, and it wouldn't power up. Wouldn't even get to the boot logo. My second restore is going good, without the need of the new ipcc file.
So much faster after the restore, about the same free mem, but way snappier. I haven't even removed the launch daemons or language files.
