Can you jailbreak the new 3G 8gig?
What im asking is my GF wants to get the iphone 3g 8gig but wants to know if she can jailbreak it or if they put the new bootrom in?

If you mean the "3GS" Than yes, I've seen it done by one of my friends (Although i haven't tried it out myself yet).
I believe the only firmware that is supported is 3.1.2.
And I still think that Apple is signing 3.1.2, And hasn't put 3.1.3 on some of the new iPhone's yet.

Yes, we just got 2 3G and jailbroke them both with the problems.

if u have a 3g u can downgrade firmware to jailbreak your phone i believe... with apple not signing the 3.1.2 im sure new phone have 3.1.3 now...

3gs has a new bootrom it can be jailbroken with 3.1.2 but an unlock is a no go. and i think the jailbreak is teathered so every time it shuts off you must run the software again. but if you are going to run with att there is no need for an unlock as long as the jailbreak activates the phone 'hacktivate' as it were

From what I understand, u can jailbreak the 3G on the new update and it doesn't have to be tethered everytime u reboot. I have NO problems jailbreaking 2 3G on 3.1.2 this past week when I bought them from the ATT store.
