Default MANUAL BACK OF CYDIA APPS VIA SSH/winSCP.

Oops, title should say, " MANUAL BACKUP OF CYDIA APPS VIA SSH/winSCP".

So Ironically enough, my phone took a dump about 3-4 days ago. With all the hoopla and icky stuff going on from Jobs and Apple, (HUMPH) , I am triple checking that I have all my items in line for restore / backup if things get hairy and we are in for a long haul.

So my goal is to manually restore my Cydia apps via SSH/winSCP after my restore.

Did the following: Restored, (new not from backup), everything up and running fine. Apps back on, Cydia back on, etc etc.

I read this article about manually saving cydia apps to the desktop of my computer. Great idea as I am all about manual back ups if needed. So I did that PRIOR to the restore .
    Instructions were:
"copy over to your computer the files aptbackup.cydiasources.tgz, aptbackup_dpkg-packages.txt and aptbackup_openssh.tgz found at /var/mobile/Library/Preferences. (you can install aptbackup and OpenSSH via Cydia, sftp these files back to the same directory and use aptbackup to restore.)"

I did exactly that, I did a SCP AND SFPT back. No go. Did iTunes back up, then restore on aptbackup, no go. They wont populate on phone. I think I tried every combination of actions but I have to be missing something here as I am still getting used to SHH/winSCP.. (DUH)

I honestly thought I could just drag and drop the file in winSCP back where they were and all would be well.

Can anyone help ? I am SURE there has to be someone out there that has done this.

Specs: 3GS -3.1.2- BB 05.11.07- JB and UL- old bootrom. (yay me)

Bueller, Bueller ?? Anyone there. LOL.

    Please ?

I think you could have restored and manually reinstalled everything by the time you get an answer. What I do is restore as a new phone but before that i write down everything that I use on a daily basis this ridding all of the pointless stuff u have tries through out time. Just make sure u write Down any good sources
