Default Question about a jailbroken iPhone but not in service...

Hello. I have a 1st gen iPhone running 3.0 jailbroken but with no service cuz I have a 3gs. I use my 1st gen as an iPod and all. Well I notice that evertime I run cydia and try to dl a program it never finishes dling. I usually get an error or it crashes. Is it cuz I don't have service or something with my firmware? I would love to have backgrounder and a couple of other apps installed on my 1st gen. Thanks in advance!

It shouldnt have anything to do with not having service. Just make sure you are connected to a stable wifi. You may want to upgrade to 3.1.2 however

Alright thanks. I just thought since it has no service I can't upgrade and jailbreak to the next firmware.

You just need an official SIM to activate the phone after the update.
