Free Cydia apps?

hey guys, after being away from the jailbreak scene (the last time I've jailbroken was about a year ago) and returning with a 2G IPdT with a jailbroken 3.1.2 firmware, I've noticed that many Cydia apps that were free, like the video recorder, iBlacklist, gpsphone, safari downloader, the NES Emu and some others are now over 5.00$...
Why is this? After trying to redownload my favorite Cydia apps, i find that i have to pay over 30$ altogether if i want them all back... which is pretty ridonculous... Is there ANY way of getting them for free?

there is only a handfull of apps that cost money, im pretty sure i got sega emu and gba for free, it could have been a special day or something but im pretty sure with zods stuff you have the option to donate. I have a couple time already so i opt for free
