My iPhone 3G won't turn on. Any ideas why?

The battery didn't die nor was I even using it. I just took it out of my pocket and it was off. I'm trying to turn it back on and it won't boot up. It shows the Apple icon like it should, but then just turns right back off. So far I've just tried turning it on like normal and plugging it into my computer. iTunes doesn't detect it at all. When I do plug it into my computer tho it tries to boot up. I just uploaded a video to YouTube of what I've tried to see you really see what's going on.

have you tried to get in recovery or DFU mode and do a restore?
