iPhone 2g to 3gs?

Hi guys

I am using an iPhone 2g without any dataplan. I basically just like it for it's interface and iPod and apps. So cellular data is useless for me I just use wifi. So should I upgrade to the 3gs. I never bothered getting the 3g and now it doesn't seem the 3gs will do anything better that I can't do right now.

Please give your opinions if you this Its worth to upgrade for me. Also I love The iPhone aluminium back and am not a fan of the plastic if 3g/s

the 3gs has more horse power and a better camera. if you want to upgrade with a subsidized price you will have to have the data plan. i recently talked to an att rep and they said now if they detect an iphone they will turn the data back on by default, or so they say. If your content with 1st gen i wouldnt see the point unless you just want a shiny new toy.. the new 3gs has a new bootrom or something so it only has a teathered jailbreak. if you do decide id wait for the next one to come out Good luck with your decision makeing

yea i would get it subsidized. im from canada on Rogers. so the 16gb would be $199 with data plan ($25) I can cancel the data plan for a fee of $100, so ultimately the iphone will be $300 with contract and no data. with 2g i have always double blocked the data on my end.

1. i ran the APN block here Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone

2. I use sbsettings to turn off both edge and 3g.

this has seemed to work and the usage meter in settings is always 0 kb. will this method work on 3gs

In my opinion, there wasn't much of a change from the 2g to the 3g. But if you're jumping from a 2g to a 3gs, I think you'll notice a lot of difference. I did that and I noticed the 3gs was quicker and I could multi task a whole lot better.

I do admit that I preferred my silverback over the plastic housing.
