How Do I Change the Color of Icons Labels?

Hi guys! I got an iphone 1G running 3.1.2. I'm trying to change the color of the icon labels in springboard. I added the code below into:
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/info.plist... But, the icon label colors don't shange color. What do I do?

after much searching seems everyone says you need an ms extension, so you have to have winterboard

which makes no sense to me considering i have grey icon labels and no winterboard
