Question My performance issues need a fix more then a junkie

    So,
I'm using a jailbroken 8GB iPhone 2g and I'm having some performance issues. Something is quickly draining my memory.

I have a free memory app from the app store that I can watch the memory quickly being sucked away after I free it but I still don't know what's causing it.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix it &/or see what's causing it?

Sorry to hear about your performance issues....

What apps do you have installed? Do you have push set to manual? What firmware are you running?

The best thing you could do is restore the phone, update it, and then set up as new phone instead of restoring from backup. Lots of old settings and stuff can get brought along from firmware to firmware which are unnecessary and use memory and kill battery.

    Soulthoughts,

    I have firmware 3.1.2

AP Mobile are the only push
    notifications I have on.

Here's what jailbreak stuff I currently have:

    winterboard
    cycorder
    terminal
    google voice mobile
    make it mine
    cydia
    rock
    ********** (downloaded aircam)
    dtunes (downloaded 2 songs)
    lockdown (all off)
    toggle ssh
    yxflash
    blackra1n
    aircam
    five column
    five dock
    leopard winterboard theme
    Htc clock cal lockscreen
    clock hide
    cydget

A few more things that might help:
I added all sources / repos
    through steffwiz

I noticed alot of language support packages I don't need and deleted some of them.

I began having problems after I installed SBSettings but I have since removed it.
(Not sure if they're even related)

When I noticed my memory draining really fast last night in my FreeMemory app I went ahead and wrote down all the processes that it said were running:

    Report Crash (turned into ScHelper)
    Mobile Mail
    FreeMemory
    apsd
    notifyd
    BTserver
    commcenter
    Springboard
    accessoryd
    configd
    fairplayd
    mDNSResponder
    lockdownd
    syslogd
    launchd
    kernel_task

Hey man you seem fairly new to this, but there are a bunch of things you can do to help with your memory or RAM. 1) remove safe launch daemons(search this site). 2) VM mods (but I don't suggest using one of those, they are dangerous and can and will kill your phone). 3) Is use the ReapeatMemoryFree script (which I am using now and my RAM hovers in the high 50's low 60's) ReapeatMemoryFree also has quitters for safari, mail, and ipod, which means upon closing them sbsettings quits them from running in the background therefore giving you more RAM. I strongly suggest ReapeatMemoryFree script. Also having alot of mobilesubstrate add-ons uses RAM. You should check out (on xsellize)the ReapeatMemoryFree script, I'll post a link but don't think they will let it work, actually I'll PM the link for you, you should read through some of the thread its pretty big though.

    Ok,
so I found repeat memory free on cydia. I installed it and it included sbsettings and a couple other things.

I don't see anything anywhere about repeat memory free.

I read somewhere that it was supposed to run automatically on 2g iPhone when I dropped below 10mb.

I would have stopped there except while I was researching where it goes after I install it I noticed my status bar memory display drop to 9mb then 8... Now is hovering right at 10/11mb.

    Am I missing something?
