Lucky AT&T 3GS Experience
I thought you guys might at least find this story ammusing. My current line on AT&T was upgraded to a 3GS 2 months ago. My dad decided he wanted to get another 3GS for my brother (who's line was upgraded 3 months ago to get a new phone for my mom).
Now obviously neither line is eligible for an upgrade. My dad called AT&T and they told him he'd have to pay full price for the upgrade. He pointed out that the additional 30 a month he'd be paying for internet should offset that, and they should do something for him. They eventually credited 200 dollars to his account and asked if he wanted to order the 3GS over the phone. He said he'd go pick it up in store.
When he went in store, he told them he wanted to buy the 3GS for full price (as he had the 200 credit). When the rep looked at his account, he said "I notice you aren't eligible for any upgrades. Let me go ahead and override that for an early upgrade."
So he got a 3GS for 199, with a 200 dollar credit to his account on a line that was upgraded 2 months ago...
Talk about lucky.
I figured someone would at least find this interesting.Last edited by Piazza331; 01-11-2010 at 10:05 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yeah, I thought so. I guess it just shows what talking to the right combination of people will do.
Heck, my friend took his 3G S with water damage into an Apple store the other day. The guy told him it would be 200 to replace as it had water damage, and he could come back and pay for it whenever he was ready. My roommate said he was a delivery driver and needed it today for the GPS and pulled out his debit card. The guy went to the back, grabbed a new one, and swapped it out. Then he handed him a warranty service sheet that said the charge was free and it didn't have water damage.
Good iPhone luck recently.

My warranty expires the 28th of this month. I have to make an appointment in the Genius Bar to swap out my 3G. I get drop calls and no sim. It's not dust and I restored plenty of times. Maybe they'll give me a 3GS...

Ha ha, I don't even think I could get that lucky.
I live in Alabama. Yay for southern hospitality.
